As a Premium user, you'll have all the privileges that a free user does not have for downloading and uploading. For instance you can use download managers (I recommend Flashget), a fast download speed, you can pause your downloads and resume later.
The download limit per day is 5.00GB for premium users.
Why Rapidshare is better than Torrents

When you download stuff using torrents, the time and speed of each download depends on the amount of users that has that same file. It's a Peer 2 peer way of sharing. So if you want to download a 500MB file and 200 people has it but only 2 are online at that moment, your file is going to take eternity to finish downloading. This is not the case with Rapidshare. The file is on their servers and you only need to download it at a fast speed.
